About this site
This is an independent guide that estimates the consumption tax refund for tourists in Japan under the refund system that starts on November 1, 2026. It is not run by, or connected to, the Japanese government, customs, or any shop.
What it does
- Estimates the tax you can get back from the prices you enter, using the rules published by the Japan Tourism Agency and the National Tax Agency.
- Shows the leave-Japan deadline (90 days, counting the day after purchase as day 1).
- Explains what to do at the shop and at the airport.
Limits
- The result is an estimate. The actual refund depends on the purchase record created by the shop, and on fees charged by the shop or refund provider.
- This is not tax or legal advice. Rules can change. Always check the official pages linked on the main page.
- Information is checked against official sources automatically; changes are reviewed by a person before the site is updated.
